The New Sound of Fury  24 March 2026

In December last year, I wrote to Decca records saying although we all know Billy loved Country Music he never released a Country album. In most interviews he talked about how much Country and Rockabilly was such a big influence in his life. So I suggested to Decca that it would be great to release a Country compilation. Shortly after, I got a reply from Decca stating that they have nothing planned for a release at this time. It's been rumoured for a few years that they were planning a boxset of all of Billy's Decca recordings, but so far nothing, only rumours. I had been chat with one of my songwriters and producers Geoff Taggart and we came up with the idea that we would strip Billy’s voice from certain recordings and put a completely new Country/Rockabilly style backing on these songs. We have had so much fun producing this album, we got carried away and are now working on around 30 songs. The surprise to me is how many songs sound like brand new Billy Fury recordings, hearing things you never heard before, I will be a guest on DJ Matt Shepherds Golden Years show in the next couple of weeks where I’ll talk about how the album came about, what’s on the album, hopefully the release date and of course we will play 3 masters from this upcoming release. Show details will be posted here asap. Now obviously we will not be releasing all 30 songs,We will pick out what we consider to be the very best of the bunch.Those that don’t make the cut will go direct to YouTube. A very special Thanks to Geoff Taggart for all of his hard work on these recordings. We will now go through the songs, Then the ones that work will be finished with newly added backing vocals and overdubs etc. We can’t wait to share with you what’s on the album and the simple reason why we can’t at the moment is because we don’t know yet. By Billy’s Birthday on April 17 we will and so will you. A record label is very interested in putting this out and promoting it. More news on this when we know.
